Christian Ministry With Power

Posted by Rev. Jeff Ferguson on August 7, 2011 at 11:05 AM

Jesus never intended Christian Ministry to depend on man's natural abilities, No but rather He has equipped  His followers by the anointing of the Holy Spirit to minister  with supernatural power. Romans 12:6 lists the supernatural as prophesying , serving , teaching, encouraging , , giving , leadership , showing mercy.  1 Cor. 12 :8-10 lists the Gifts of the Spirit " word of wisdom , the word of knowledge , faith , the gifts of healing , miracles , prophecy , discerning of spirits , divers kind of tongues , and interpretation of tongues. Ephesians 4:11 enumerates the five fold ministry of apostles , prophets , evangelists, pastors , teachers .

We need to ministry in the Gifts at all times 1 Cor. 12:31a " But eagerly desire the greater gifts 1 Cor. 14 : 1 " eargly desire spiritual gifts . 1 Cor. 14:12b  " Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel" 1 Cor. 14:39 " be earger to prophesy " . To be used in the supernatural realm , you must be eager for it , eaherly desire it , try to excel in  it . We need to pray " Lord use me in the gifts " We are born into and live in the natural realm. To move into the supernatural realm takes conscious desire.

1 Tim. 4:14 " Do not neglect your gift" 2 Tim. 1:6 " Fan into the flame the gift of God " . Left unattended , the supernatural  in your life will inevitably recede back into the natural. Neglect the supernatural and you will welcome the natural . A declining fire needs some deliberate fanning. I need to fan a soul winning gift in my life .

Rev. 2:7 " He who has a ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches ". Let him hear what the Spirit says. We need to pray " Lord open my ears to hear your Spirit speak .

1 Cor. 2 : 12-14 " We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit , who is from God , that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak , not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught  by the Spirit , expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words . They are spiritually discerned. Naturally minded , no but understanding of the things of God we need to be spiritually minded.

It has been said " You'll not understand the Bible by your intellect , but by God's revelation" . We understand , discern , and speak supernaturally only one way and that is by God's Holy Spirit , not by our natural minds.

We need to ask the Lord for a word  directing you to operate in the supernatural realm . Just as Peter did  " Lord if it's you , tell me to come to you on the water.. In 2 kings 6: 15-17 " And Elisha prayed , O lord , open his eyes so he may see. " and as we know the servant's eyes were opened . We need to pray " open my eyes so that I may see ".

We sometimes wonder how God chooses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Peter the first apostle was a fisherman but he turned out to be "THE ROCK" on which Jesus said he would build his ministry. What was special in Peter. It was only one thing special; Peter saying yes to the call of Jesus to follow him.
From this we learn that God is not in search of our ability but our availability. So let us be available to tell the good news of human salvation.
